Beginning on the north side of the Ljubljanica River, we’ll cross the legendary Dragon Bridge, guarded by its iconic green dragons, before strolling past the bustling Central Market, a vibrant hub of local flavors and daily life. From there, we’ll stroll around the imposing Ljubljana Castle, learning about its medieval fortifications and panoramic views, before descending back into the old town’s heart. As we continue, we’ll cross the elegant Shoemaker’s Bridge, a masterpiece of the city’s famed architect Jože Plečnik, before concluding our journey at the lively and historic Prešeren Square, the cultural soul of Ljubljana. Along the way, you’ll uncover stories of emperors, poets, and architects who shaped this enchanting city. Our tour today is not a strenuous one, as it runs less than a mile and a half over mostly level ground, and should take about two hours. Our starting point is on Komeskega Road, near the University, where there is plenty of public transportation, if you arrived that way, and there is a parking lot (Parkina hisa Komenskega) if you drove today. Starting at the majestic Big Ben, the clock tower that has long been a symbol of British heritage, we will stroll past Westminster Abbey, a site steeped in royal history and architectural grandeur. From there, we'll walk towards Buckingham Palace, the official residence of the monarch, where you might catch a glimpse of the Changing of the Guard. Our route continues to St. Paul’s Cathedral, an awe-inspiring masterpiece of Baroque architecture and a testament to London’s resilience. Finally, we’ll conclude at Tower Bridge, a Victorian engineering marvel that offers breathtaking views of the Thames. This carefully curated journey features breathtaking points of interest, showcasing the park’s stunning landscapes, rich history, and diverse wildlife. From panoramic overlooks and cascading waterfalls to serene hiking trails and historic lodges, each stop offers a unique glimpse into the natural beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Whether you're a first-time visitor or a seasoned explorer, this tour promises an unforgettable adventure through one of America's most cherished national parks. Perhaps you drove in from Washington, DC, on route 66, or areas surrounding. Wherever you are coming from, you are in the right place now, and get ready to indulge your eyes in the beauty of Shenandoah. Today’s journey runs a little over 30 miles, and should take anywhere between an hour and a half, and 3 hours to complete, depending on how many stops you make. It’s a good idea to gas up and bring some snacks for the road trip today. Coming up first, we will talk about Front Royal before entering Skyline Drive and the Park itself. Everybody ready? Yes?
