No. UCPlaces is a real-life experience! The mobile app acts like a tour guide in the real world and can be used for tourism, university tours, relocation Where-to-live tours and even personal heritage tours. You can read the tour intro and some of the points of interest to see what you may expect from each tour before taking it.
UCPlaces is designed to deliver the professional tour-guide experience on a budget (or free), on your schedule and in your preferred language.
The app is your tour-guide, it needs to know where you are located on the map to be able to trigger the points of interest. It also needs access to audio and media files to provide you with this experience.
The app is super simple to use. It shows you a route on the map with markings that represent each point of interest, when you arrive in close proximity to each point the app triggers the audio for that point of interest. There’s no need to touch the phone during the tour, just relax and have fun.
No. You can start a tour from anywhere. There are two phases for each tour, getting to the starting point and the tour itself. When you tap ‘Take me to the starting point’ the app assumes you are either driving or walking on a public road and will tell you how to get to the tour. When you get to that point the tour will automatically start.
If you are in your car and the phone is connected to your car via Bluetooth make sure the car audio system source is set to Bluetooth so you hear the audio via the car’s stereo system. Another option is to just turn off the Bluetooth and listen directly from the phone.
It sometimes happens where the GPS and actual location do not align extremely well and the audio doesn’t trigger automatically. If this happens you can manually press the play button on the bottom of the screen to manually play the related audio and then continue on your tour. Most POIs should trigger as planned.
Easy, just select the tour, then tap ‘Choose starting point (Advanced), select the Point of Interest you wish to continue the tour from and tap ‘Start Tour’. The tour will now start from the selected Point of Interest.
You can take this tour as many times as you’d like even after it gets updated.
There are few things to consider, if it’s a driving tour you can just play the audio via Bluetooth for everyone in the car to hear, which is an incredibly fun family experience. If it’s a walking tour in a busy street you would need to either connect multiple headsets to one phone or play the tour individually on each phone. Earbuds are highly recommended for walking tours.

Yes! Anyone can create tours on UCPlaces, it’s extremely easy and we have videos showing you how to do so with step-by-step instructions. In order for your tour to get published and listed on the app and website it has to be your own tour, it has to be worthy of our user’s time and it has to be unique on the platform.
Yes! You can set a price of up to $20 per tour and you’ll get paid once a month for the tours that were purchased during the previous month. The funds are split 50/50 between UCPlaces and the tour creator after the App-store/Google play processing fees.
No. Premium tours (tours that are not free) only display the Intro and first two Points of Interest. When a user purchases the tour she/he can then view the rest of the tour and take it as many times as he/she wants.
No. Even unpublished tours can be accessed with the right link. Do not upload or create any information on the site that you want to remain private.
No! The material on the platform is copyrighted and is owned by the tour creator. Per our use terms agreement you are not allowed to copy or reuse the audio, video, text, graphics, and photos anywhere else.
Some of our best tours are completely free because our creators/guides decided they want to share them with the world without charge. Each tour (free or not) is vetted by our production team to make sure it’s worthy of our user’s time. Some tours are very unique in nature and some very general, choose the one that’s right for you.
The tour revenues are split 50/50 between UCPlaces and the tour creator. The tip however is only optional and is paid to the creator in full. If you had fun, show our beloved creators some love.
