Menor’s Ferry Historic District & Chapel of the Transfiguration
On your right — the Menor’s Ferry Historic District, one of the most important early settlement sites in the Jackson Hole valley.

This is where Bill Menor, a homesteader and entrepreneur, operated a hand-pulled ferry across the Snake River in the late 1800s.

Today, you can still see a replica of the ferry, historic cabins, a general store, and even a small museum offering a glimpse into pioneer life.

On your left is the Chapel of the Transfiguration, a tiny log chapel with one of the grandest views you’ll ever see from a pew. Built in 1925, the chapel frames the Cathedral Group of the Teton Range through its altar window — a spiritual and architectural masterpiece all at once.

Both sites invite you to pause, explore, and reflect — one on the rugged self-reliance of early settlers, the other on the quiet reverence this landscape inspires.

Windy Point Turnout
Coming on your right is Windy Point Turnout, and trust me — the name doesn’t lie. Step out and you’ll likely be greeted by a cool breeze and a breathtaking panoramic view of the Teton Range rising dramatically before you.

This spot offers a unique vantage point where you can see the Cathedral Group — including Grand Teton, Teewinot, and Mount Owen — in all their jagged glory, framed by open sagebrush flats and the glacial moraine below.

The contrast between the valley floor and the towering peaks makes this one of the most photogenic and awe-inspiring stops along the scenic loop.

It's also a great place to reflect on the immense geological forces that shaped this landscape — the Tetons rose from the earth less than 10 million years ago, making them some of the youngest mountains in North America, yet their ruggedness speaks of ancient power.

Take a moment here to breathe it in — the views, the wind, the grandeur — it's pure Teton magic.
