The West Entrance of Yellowstone National Park, located just outside the town of West Yellowstone, Montana, is one of the park’s busiest and most popular entry points. Known for its convenient access to some of Yellowstone’s biggest attractions, this entrance opens up to a scenic drive through lush river valleys, pine forests, and geothermal marvels.
Once you’re in, you’ll find yourself on a prime route toward iconic spots like the Madison River, a fantastic area for wildlife viewing where bison, elk, and even bald eagles are often spotted. From here, it’s an easy journey to major landmarks like the Norris Geyser Basin, home to the world’s tallest active geyser, Steamboat Geyser. But where we will be headed is to the road that leads to the park’s superstar: Old Faithful.

The West Entrance is especially popular with travelers from Idaho, Montana, and those exploring the surrounding Greater Yellowstone area. In winter, it transforms into a gateway for snow-coach tours, cross-country skiing, and snowmobile adventures, giving visitors a unique, snowy view of the park’s wild landscape.
