Bueno, como mencionamos en la introducción, Fort Monroe fue una vez un puesto activo del ejército de EE. UU., y no cualquier puesto. Este lugar ha estado ocupado continuamente desde principios del siglo XIX, lo que le valió el apodo de “La Fortaleza de la Libertad”. Y mientras conduces, notarás algo de inmediato… todo ese ladrillo rojo. Esos edificios robustos no eran solo por estética, fueron construidos para durar, y claramente, lo han hecho.

Ahora, echa un vistazo a tu derecha, esa es la Marina de Old Point. Hoy está llena de veleros y vistas tranquilas del agua, pero imagina esta misma costa bulliciosa con actividad militar: barcos llegando y saliendo, soldados preparándose para el despliegue, e historia desarrollándose en tiempo real.

Fort Monroe ha sido testigo de todo, desde la Guerra Civil hasta operaciones de defensa costera, y de alguna manera, todavía se siente tranquilo y casi escondido del mundo moderno.

Hotel Chamberlin: De fortaleza a ícono costero
Prepárense para girar a la izquierda, pero primero, a su derecha, echen un vistazo al Hotel Chamberlin —y sí, este lugar tiene historias.

El hotel original aquí abrió sus puertas en 1822, convirtiéndolo en uno de los primeros hoteles resort del país. Era un escape favorito para viajeros adinerados que huían del calor del verano… y más tarde, se convirtió en un punto de encuentro para los oficiales militares destacados en Fort Monroe. A lo largo de los años, albergó a presidentes, dignatarios, y probablemente más de unas cuantas conversaciones dramáticas detrás de esas paredes.

We have been working hard to deliver a great experience. Though you may run into unexpected obstacles (the world is constantly changing), our app has multiple features and mechanisms in place to help you overcome them, including: AI assistance, force play an audio if you can't reach the stop, skip or return to stops, automatic rerouting and more.
+ Can I take the tour in my language?
Though all of our tours are primarily in English, many tours are muyltilingual (including: Spanish, German, Portuguese, French, Japanese, Hebrew, French, Arabic and more...).
