Entrée Ash Mountain
Devant nous se trouve la porte principale du parc. L’entrée d’Ash Mountain offre une introduction spectaculaire aux paysages diversifiés du parc, passant des contreforts parsemés de chênes aux séquoias imposants et aux panoramas alpins à mesure que vous montez.

Impossible de manquer l’emblématique panneau du parc national de Sequoia. Le panneau a été créé dans les années 1930 par le Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC), un programme du New Deal qui a fourni des emplois pendant la Grande Dépression. Le CCC a joué un rôle clé dans le développement des premières infrastructures du parc, notamment les routes, les sentiers et les bâtiments. L’élément central du panneau est une sculpture détaillée d’une tête de chef amérindien. Elle rend hommage à l’histoire indigène de la région, en particulier aux Yokuts, qui ont des liens culturels avec cette terre. Son design reflète l'accent mis par le CCC sur la préservation du patrimoine naturel et culturel des lieux où ils travaillaient, intégrant souvent des matériaux et des thèmes locaux dans leurs projets.

À notre droite se trouve le Foothills Visitor Center. C’est un endroit idéal pour en apprendre davantage sur le parc.
Situé à une altitude plus basse dans la zone des contreforts du parc, le centre est entouré de forêts de chênes et de chaparral, offrant un décor spectaculaire. Une fois à l’intérieur, vous serez plongé dans un univers de connaissances sur les séquoias ! Les expositions se concentrent sur l’écologie, la géologie et l’histoire humaine des zones les plus basses du parc. Les visiteurs peuvent découvrir la faune, les plantes indigènes et les cycles saisonniers de la région, ainsi que l’histoire et les traditions des tribus autochtones Yokuts, notamment leur lien avec la terre et ses ressources.

Bien sûr, des gardes forestiers sont toujours présents pour vous aider et répondre à toutes vos questions. Et avant de partir, vous pouvez faire un tour à la boutique de souvenirs et vous offrir un joli sweat-shirt – vous l’avez bien mérité !

Taking a UCPlaces tour is fun and easy.
Download the app (Android or iOS), purchase the tour (either here on the website, or from within the app).
That's it, you're ready to go!

How does the tour work?
UCPlaces acts as your personal tour guide, providing self-guided audio tours fully navigated within our app using GPS-based navigation. You won't need to switch between external navigation apps.
Whenever you approach a point of interest (POI) on the tour, our app will automatically play the relevant audio story at the right time and place.
If you start the tour before reaching the first POI, the app will navigate you to the starting point and then begin the tour.

Though you may run into unexpected obstacles (the world is constantly changing), our app has multiple features and mechanisms in place to help you overcome them, including: AI assistance, force play an audio if you can't reach the stop, skip or return to stops, automatic rerouting and more.
