MEET THE IMPERIAL PORT OF THE HABSBURGS-TRIESTE Hello, my name is Marijana and I will be your tour guide throughout Trieste city. I am happy to be with you over the next few hours and I will be glad to introduce you to this wonderful coastal city of Northern Italy. I wish you a wonderful journey through the history of Trieste. Trieste is a place where many religions meet: the main churches have been located for centuries. There are also different architectural styles of its buildings: neoclassicism, secession, and baroque style, harmoniously complement each other, as well as Roman ruins and buildings from the 18th century. The enchanting city Trieste, stretches between the sharp Karst to the Adriatic sea and offers the experience of a unique and unforgettable stay. As a border area and trading port with a turbulent past from ancient times to modern days. Our first starting point will be Piazza del Unita Italia or the main square in Trieste.
Hi. My name is Bill Simons, and I am going to be your guide today. I am a member of the San Antonio Professional Tour Guide Association and own a company called Cycling San Antonio that takes people on bicycle tours down to the Spanish Missions. The historical King William area is so charming and important that the City of San Antonio included it on a tour for Prince Charles’ during his 1986 visit. This was the first planned subdivision in the city of San Antonio and the first historic neighborhood in the state of Texas. Today’s tour will cover some of the more interesting stories associated with several of the homes on King William Street. You will be directed to park one street over from King William on Madison Street, but most important for this tour is that you don’t park on King William Street proper.
Welcome to this self-guided audio walking tour of Chicago's Magnificent Mile, Illinois. High end shopping, architecture, history and hidden gems await on this self-guided journey.
Welcome to Old Town Alexandria! I’m glad you can join me. I’m Christian, your guide and this walking tour will explore a handful of the many historic sites associated with the town’s most famous resident, Revolutionary War General, First President of the United States, and farmer George Washington. Washington enjoyed a fruitful 50 year relationship with Alexandria, from the town’s founding in 1749 until his death in 1799. We’ll begin in the vicinity of the George Washington Masonic National Memorial and work our way down to Old Town’s Waterfront Park along the Potomac River.
Welcome to Historic America’s Founding Fathers Footsteps tour of Philadelphia. We’re glad you could join us! I’m Aaron, your guide (but I also respond to professional history nerd). This is the part of the tour where I fit in my shameless plug for our website (www.historicamerica.org) and invite you to use the #historicamericatours on social media while traveling alongside us today. This tour is a biographical journey telling the stories of America's Founding Fathers by exploring the sites where they lived and worked here in historic Philadelphia. Here, America’s founding generation oversaw a revolution, wrote our founding documents and gave birth to a young republic. From Betsy Ross’s House, to the grave of Benjamin Franklin, to the assembly room where George Washington became America’s general - this tour is packed with larger-than-life Americans and their most memorable moments. To get started, find your way to the intersection of Market & 2nd Street - near the 2nd Street subway station. A quick note before we begin: Our tour is designed to help you see Philadelphia’s most famous sites no matter when you visit! We will not go inside any buildings, but many of these sites are free and open to the public on most days during regular business hours. However, some sites (like inside Independence Hall) require a free, timed ticket and a security check. If you’d like more information about operating hours and tickets to Independence Hall, you can visit the Independence Visitor Center on Market Street.
Alexander Hamilton is one of America’s most influential Founding Fathers. A member of the Continental Congress and primary author of the Federalist Papers, he tirelessly championed the Constitution, and served as the United States first Secretary of the Treasury. However, despite his enduring political legacy, his name has become rather obscure in the popular tellings of our American Revolution. Alexander Hamilton was hardly a household name before author and composer, Lin Manuel Miranda, gave his story a new voice through the hit Broadway musical, Hamilton! Whether you’re a long-time history buff, or were recently introduced to the American saga through Miranda’s captivating lyrical cadence, this tour is for you! Miranda certainly did his research to write a Tony and Pulitzer winning play, first gaining inspiration while reading Ron Chernow's 2004 biography about the now famous founder. The play is historical fiction, and Miranda took some notable artistic liberties, but the people, places and events are very real. The backdrop for most of the play, and a lot of the real Hamilton’s real life, was New York City, right here in lower Manhattan. This tour will trace the footsteps of Alexander Hamilton’s remarkable life, in a remarkable city, at a remarkable moment in history. To begin your walking tour of Hamilton's New York, meet me at The Battery. Enter Battery Park from State Street. You can follow our navigation system to the tour's origin, and throughout your guided audio tour. See you soon!
