We are starting this tour off at Mississauga’s ultimate shopping destination, Square One Shopping Centre. Spanning a whopping 2.2 million square feet, Square One is home to 330 stores and is the largest shopping center in Ontario. You’ll find a range of stores from mall classics like Lush, Crate and Barrel and Simons or even higher-end stores like Coach, Swarovski and Kate Spade. Hungry? You’ve got to stop by their food court. If you want to indulge, try the Pie Commission. The Pie Commission offers a wide selection of sweet and savory pies to fill any craving. Rather eat at home, no problem! Get a package of 4 frozen pies to take home and enjoy while also saving on Tax!

On your right you will see the campus of Sheridan College. Founded in 1967, Sheridan has grown from its humble roots, starting off at just 400 students. Also on your right you will see the Art Gallery of Mississauga. Opened in 1987, The Art Gallery of Mississauga is a public, not-for-profit gallery striving to make thought-provoking and engaging art accessible to the Mississauga community. Don’t get too distracted, you are driving afterall, but to your left is one of the entrances to Dr. L Dobkin Community Park. This park is pretty lit… meaning the baseball diamond, soccer field, softball diamond and tennis court all have lights for after-dark sports. There’s also a playground and two parking lots. Are you wondering who Dr. Dobkin is? Maybe, maybe not. I’ll tell you though. He was the first Mayor of Mississauga in 1973. Turn right on Dundas Street and I’ll take you past another fun park.

We will be passing Brickyard Park on your right. This park is a great family-friendly park offering multiple playgrounds as well as a baseball diamond, soccer field and even a splash pad to cool off in the warmer months. The paved pathways make this a perfect place for an afternoon walk or even a morning stroll with a furry friend, just make sure they are leashed!

On your left you will see Huron Park. It hosts a wide variety of amenities, so come and enjoy one of its main attractions, the Huron Park Ice Arena, founded in 1974. The Huron Park Ice Arena hosts various hockey tournaments of all ages, complete with an on-site snack bar making this a perfect place for athletes and spectators alike. Aside from the Arena, Huron Park offers an on-site fitness center, gymnasium and Indoor Lap pool. In addition to the 6 lane lap pool, Huron Park has its very own therapeutic pool. This heated pool is located right next to the main pool and offers shallow, warm water perfect for any post-rehabilitation routine.

Now you probably can’t see it from here, but just on the other side of the neighborhood to your left is the Credit Valley Golf and Country Club. More than just golf, this country club has a large clubhouse, fitness facility with yoga and fitness classes, and an indoor pool which also offers classes. As far as the golf course goes, the Credit Valley course is great for golfers of all skill levels. Enjoy some breathtaking scenery and even some wildlife as you swing your club. Don’t forget we are turning right on Missisauga Rd.

On your right you will see the beautiful campus of University of Toronto Mississauga. UTM enrolls over 15,000 students and offers 115 programs in over 95 areas of study. Did you know UTM is also home to one of the only Palaeomagnetism labs in Canada? That's the study of the history of the Earth’s magnetic field for those who didn’t catch that. If you’re looking to visit, a noteworthy spot to check out is The Blackwood Gallery, UTM’s own contemporary art centre dedicated to public research. There are 450 works of art in Blackwood’s permanent collection and Blackwood continually hosts and changes their exhibits on display, making this a place to visit often.

Credit River

We are coming up on a bridge that will be taking us over the Credit River. This River is over 1,500 kilometres long and much of it can be explored by canoe or kayak so let’s get going! I’m kidding. You can do that later. The Credit River has spawning areas for Chinook Salmon and Rainbow Trout and a fish ladder to help them get to these spawning areas. We are almost to the end of our tour and of course we are gonna end it on a sweet note.
